Governor's Message
Welcome to the Rotary year 1999-2000. Today we begin to plan for
the 21st century, the new millennium. Our President Carlo Raviizza's theme
is "ROTARY 2000 -- ACT WITH CONSISTENCY, CREDIBILITY AND CONTINUITY".
Guiding our Distric into a new millenium will require core principles,
fundamental values that will provide a basis for our actions. The first of
these priciples must be CONSISTENCY. We will have an opportunity to
effect change in Rotary be developing these principles that can be applied and
respected by everyone. We also need more flexible rules that can be adapted to
the different cultures of our membership, and in doing so, retain and attract
new members. By formulating such rules we will also enchance our
CREDIBILITY in our communites. The future of our District depends on
members and clubs being Consistent with our beliefs and Credible in our
actions. There is a third characterisitc that will help to shape a strong
future for our District, and that is CONTINUITY.
An organization that changes not only its leaders, but also its
programs and goals on an annual basis, may experience serious difficulties in
long-range planning. So, we must support multi-year programs, even those we did
not initiate ourselves. It will be a change in philosophy that will take some
time for all parties to accept.
I promise that you will have my full support in all your
endeavors. I understand my role as your Governor for 1999-20000 is not a
position of power, but is the greatest opportunity for me to serve you, the
members, of our great District 7500.

1999-2000
