Nick was born and raised in Monmouth
County, NJ. He worked with his family in the restaurant business
for many years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956.
He later owned restaurants in Pt. Pleasant Beach and Shrewsbury.
In 1979 he became a Commercial Real Estate Associate in Shrewsbury.
Later he formed Michals Inspections, which provided field service for
the mortgage and insurance industries. In 1979, he was invited to
become a member of the Red Bank, NJ Rotary Club. He served in and
was chairman of many committees. He also was on the Board of
Directors and the Foundation Board. In 1995 he was made a Paul
Harris Fellow. He was President from 1996 to 1997. He has
also served as Newsletter Editor. On the District level, he was an
Assistant Governor under three District Governors and then a Deputy
Governor. In 1997 he received the District Foundation Award.
In 2001 he was awarded the “Archie” award for service to the District
and Governor. As Deputy Governor, he arranged for many Inter-City
meetings. Nick retired from business in 2001 and was also married
in that year. He and his wife, Elma, reside in Lake Ridge, a
retirement community in Toms River, NJ. He is still a very active
member of the Red Bank, NJ Rotary Club. Elma and Nick are major
