IN MEMORY
Dedicated to - N. William Skidmore, PDG
Rotarians in District 7500 will always remember Bill
Skidmore who passed away on January 9, 2003 after heart failure. Bill
was the first Governor of District 7500 in 1994-95 and he is credited
with getting our district established. He was able to get our members to
accept the new alignment and begin working together to make our district
an Outstanding one in the World of Rotary. He served again in 1999-2000
and enjoyed saying that maybe he could get it right the second time
around. Bill's friendly smile made everyone feel that he was their
friend. He set a remarkable example for fellow Rotarians by showing the
proper respect for others. Bill lived in Point Pleasant all his life
with time out to serve in the military. That is when he met Mary, who
worked in the Pentagon at the same time he was stationed in Washington
D.C. Bill and Mary had been married for 49 years. He entered Rotary by joining the Point Pleasant Boro Club in 1980.
He rose to district positions in District 7510 before becoming the first
Governor of District 7500.
Wife Mary, our "First Lady", son Lee, daughter-in-law Kim
and granddaughter Kellie survive Bill. The P.D.G. N.
William Skidmore "Club Service" Award has been
started in his name at the district level and he is sadly missed by all.
Thanks Bill for all that you did for District 7500 and
all that you taught me.
